Russian forces launched a missile attack on the historic center of Odesa, causing damage to several buildings, including the Bristol Hotel on January 31.

The explosion left a significant wreckage in the building, and debris, including glass wool, was scattered across the city center.

Shortly after, a second strike targeted the city center.

"Russian terrorists have attacked the historic center of Odesa with missiles," said Oleh Kiper, Head of Odesa Regional Military Administration.

"Russian terrorists have attacked the historic center of Odesa with missiles. Currently, two people have been reported injured and are being transported to city hospitals where they will receive all necessary medical care. There is significant damage and destruction in the UNESCO World Heritage zone, including the destruction of a building under reinforced protection," said Henadii Trukhanov, Mayor of Odesa.

"Currently, in the South of our country – in Odesa – work is ongoing following Russian missile strikes. Preliminary reports suggest it was ballistic. The attacks targeted the city directly, hitting ordinary civilian buildings. Again and again: air defense is the top priority, and we are working with all our partners to provide more protection for our country," President Zelenskyy stated.

"In Odesa, among those who were in the epicenter of the strike, were also Norwegian diplomatic representatives," Zelenskyy added.
