On the evening of March 29, Russian forces launched a drone strike on a military hospital in Kharkiv, causing casualties and widespread damage to both medical and civilian infrastructure.

The attack, reportedly carried out using Shahed-type drones, resulted in two confirmed deaths and at least 30 injuries.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the strike deliberately targeted a military medical facility, marking another violation of international humanitarian law. The hospital building and nearby residential structures sustained significant damage.

Regional authorities reported that six separate impacts occurred during the attack — one in Kholodnohirskyi district and five in Shevchenkivskyi district. In Kholodnohirskyi, a private residence was directly hit.

Emergency services later recovered human remains from the debris, believed to belong to a woman around 60 years old. In Shevchenkivskyi, one of the strikes affected an office building, destroyed two vehicles, and damaged the facade. Another explosion damaged a medical facility, and a separate strike on a private home resulted in the death of a man.

Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office spokesperson Dmytro Chubenko confirmed that 30 individuals were injured in the attack, including five children aged 5 to 17. Injuries range from stress reactions and minor cuts to fractures caused by debris and broken glass.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov later updated the casualty toll, confirming two fatalities and 27 injured, with three of the five children hospitalized. The remaining two received medical attention at the scene.

Initial reports suggest that Russia used Geran-2 drones in the attack. The explosions damaged at least 12 multi-storey apartment buildings, 24 private homes, and 13 vehicles. Fires broke out in several garages and vehicles, while windows were blown out in numerous residential buildings.

Governor of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Syniehubov stated that response teams continue to work at the sites of the strikes, assessing damage and providing assistance.

Earlier on March 29, Russian forces launched a ballistic missile strike on Kryvyi Rih, injuring at least seven people, according to Ukrainian officials. The attack damaged residential buildings, a school, a car wash, and over 20 vehicles. A criminal investigation into a war crime has been initiated.
